The organizers on Velikden Cup 2020 announce they are postponed to September.
“Dear friends, in the situation of a pandemic with corona virus COVID-19, the organizing team of Velikden Cup decided to postpone the event for September – between 4th and 7th.
Organizing one of the biggest orienteering events in Bulgaria is a huge responsibility for us and we want to act in the best possible way – being both safe for all participants in the event and at the same time – as convenient as possible.
The change is very unfortunate since the interest towards Velikden Cup 2020 is very big and we got entries from many runners representing many countries.
Since today, 13th of March, until 13th of April Bulgaria is in a state of emergency and we are unable to foresee what this dynamic situation will bring us so it would be extremely irresponsible to believe everything will be calm and safe in late April (17th-20th).
That’s why after a discussion about the possibilities for holding the event on other dates in normal and safe atmosphere for all participants we decided to hold Velikden Cup 2020 between 4th and 7th of September. These dates are convenient for all Bulgarians since the children are not going to school yet and 7th of September is a non-working day and we will be able to have our full planned program – 4 racing days.
All registered runners until now will be able to take part in the competitions in September without any additional confirmation. We will of course extend the entry deadlines until 27th of August 2020. If you need any information or you are not able to participate don’t hesitate to contact us at teamcontact@variant5.org.
Thank you for the understanding!”
